gregory eddi jones

Gregory Eddi Jones (b. 1986, Syracuse, NY) is an American artist, writer, and publisher who lives and works in Philadelphia, PA. He holds a BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology (2010) and an MFA from Visual Studies Workshop (2016).

Jones’ photographic work interrogates politics of common cultural images through strategies of appropriation and re-authorship. Much of his practice is defined by visual criticism, dark humor, cultural commentary, and updating photographic traditions for the current day. He has exhibited work internationally and throughout the United States.

In October 2014, Jones self-published his first book, Another Twenty-Six Gas Stations, which has gone on to be acquired by nearly three-dozen institutional book collections, including libraries at the Museum of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Brooklyn Museum of Art.

In September 2018, Jones was named as a Foam Talent for his series Flowers for donald, an urgent body of digital collage works produced during the first 6 months of the current presidency. The series has been exhibited in Amsterdam, Brooklyn, London, Frankfurt, Denver, Santa Fe, and Lubbock, TX.

In addition to his photographic practice, Jones has contributed writing to Foam, Afterimage, and Unseen Magazine. He is also the founding editor and publisher of In the In-Between, an independent platform for noteworthy 21st-century photographic authorship.
